Over 10,000 people took to the streets of Ankara joined by 60 MPs of the oppositional Republican People’s Party of Turkey, Russian Utro.ru website reported.

The protestors tried to block traffic of an avenue in the center of the city chanting slogans against the government and police. The law enforcers had to block the main road heading to the parliament building and used tear gas and water jets. The demonstrators were throwing stones and sticks at the policemen. According to media, several people were injured in the clashes.

Turkish citizens are protesting against labor legislation submitted to the parliament. New law envisages reduction of minimum wage rate.

Controversial bill provoked protests not only in Ankara but other Turkish cities.
