YEREVAN. – New details became known Tuesday with respect to the information Armenia’s law enforcement had on a possibility of a terrorist action in Armenia. Accordingly, a group of Taliban terrorists has infiltrated into Armenia, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“Yesterday, [National Security Service] NSS Press Secretary Artsvin Baghramyan basically did not deny the news about the infiltration of the guerrillas of this radical Islamist terrorist organization.

‘I will not comment on that information. The NSS activities always keep the focus on all functions vested by the law [and] aimed at matters of combating terrorism. So, there is no cause for any concern,’ Baghramyan said in response to our reporter’s question.

[Yet] We were unable to formally verify [any] details on the terrorist group and a possible terrorist action. According to unofficial sources, the law enforcement is unable to verify whether the terrorists have crossed Armenia’s border illegally and are now hiding somewhere, or they have come to Armenia as, for example, tourists,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
