YEREVAN. – Due to the lack of pupil, many Greek schools were shut down in Istanbul, reports Azg (The Nation) Armenian newspaper.

“First was Greek elementary school in Kurtulus that was shut down by the demand of Greek community,” reports the newspaper. “The Turkish Ministry of education under that excuse initiated closing two other schools, one of which was Greek lyceum.”

What happened with Greek schools in Istanbul can happen with 13 other schools of national minorities, which also have a lack of pupil. Since only Armenians, Greeks, and Jews are considered as national minorities in Turkey, one can conclude that Armenian schools are among those that will be shut down next, reports the newspaper.
