A district court in Saint Petersburg, Russia ruled for Nikolay Konashenok’s arrested for 14 days on charges of petty hooliganism.

A criminal case was launched against Saint Petersburg resident Konashenok on charges of justifying terrorism—for his social media posts about the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow Region, reports Fontanka.

Konashenok was detained at Pulkovo Airport of Saint Petersburg. He wanted to fly to Armenia’s capital Yerevan via Moscow, Fontanka had reported. Later, the newspaper published a video in which Konashenok apologized for his Facebook posts about the aforesaid terrorist attack and stated that he does not support terrorism.

In his posts, Konashenok had questioned why the terrorist attack had happened at Crocus City Hall instead of the Kremlin, for example, and why before the concert of Russian rock band Piknik instead of another band.

Shortly before Konashenok being detained on Monday, the New Holland public space in Saint Petersburg had announced the resignation of his wife, Roksana Shatunovskaya, as director. Shatunovskaya had stated that her family member had made “atrocious statements,” which she condemns, Kommersant reported.
