The official farewell ceremony for Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his comrades-in-arms, who died in a helicopter crash on May 19, has begun in Tehran.

The ceremony is headed by the supreme and spiritual leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

This event in the capital of Iran is being broadcast live by IRIB television.

After Khamenei’s prayer service, the funeral procession is marching through the streets of Tehran, and those who wish will be able to personally say goodbye to the president of Iran and his comrades in arms.

The footage shows that the streets of the capital of Iran are full of thousands of people who have come to say goodbye to the victims of the aforesaid helicopter crash.

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, and several other senior officials from various countries are expected to come to Tehran Wednesday to attend the ceremony.

Raisi will be laid to rest in his hometown of Mashhad.

All interments will be held on Thursday.
