Slovakia's Specialised Criminal Court has taken into custody the man who made an attempted assassination of the country's Prime Minister Robert Fitzo, RTVS reported.

Juraj Cintula, 71, is charged with attempted murder. He faces 25 years to life in prison. Robert Fitzo himself remains in the intensive care unit of Roosevelt Hospital in Banska Bistrica. The condition of the Slovak Prime Minister has stabilized, the media said.

The surgery performed on Friday contributed to a positive prognosis, Slovak Health Minister Zuzana Dolinkova told a press conference. According to her forecasts, the Slovak Prime Minister is unlikely to be transferred to another hospital in the coming days.
