Eduard Gevorgizov, a history teacher at Yerevan Alexander Pushkin School #8, has handed in his voluntary resignation, the RA Ministry of Education and Science told NEWS.am. The teacher had to leave his job after a video showing him beating and insulting a student appeared on YouTube on October 11.
“The Ministry of Education and Science restates that any form of school violence is unacceptable and deserves punishment,” says the release.
Headmistress of School #8 Marietta Matghashyan told NEWS.am that the incident occurred last March. The school administration condemned it, and the teacher apologized, but was not dismissed.
